Η Ιστιαία, η «πρωτεύουσα» της βόρειας Εύβοιας, απέχει 140 χλμ. από τη Χαλκίδα, και η διαδρομή είναι πολύ όμορφη. Από την Αθήνα υπάρχει πρόσβαση μέσω Αρκίτσας. Αθήνα-Αρκίτσα 150 χλμ., στη συνέχεια φεριμπότ για Αιδηψό και άλλα 18 χλμ. μέχρι την Ιστιαία.
